OKAY, MY FAMILY THINKS I'VE LOST IT!

Yes, it's true! My family thinks I've totally flown the coup but my real friends know that I am just crazy enough to do what I need to, to try and win a contest!

I've been a follower of Brandy's (Fresh Sugar) for quite some time now. Brandy is now collaborating with Danna of

Bowes Photography

and the two of them run a fabulous site out of Calgary called Two Photogs. What I love about this site is that the two of them are fresh and funny and kind of different in the same sense with different things to offer! I love Danna's studio work... amazing and I love Brandy's ability to rock the natural light.

Anyways...

Danna and Brandy are running a contest on their site for the chance at one of the five spots in their first Photography Mentorship Program that will start in January 2010. First off, I'd like to say that i'd LOVE the chance to win a spot in their upcoming program... what an amazing opportunity! With four BUSY, BUSY kids and a workaholic husband it's really hard for me to travel and participate in a lot of educational courses to further my abilities, which I'd really like to do. It's a great opportunity to learn and grow my business. They are both very successful at what they do and I think they have a lot to offer other photographers. Secondly, this was an awesome chance to be selfish, sit back and recognize what my "Guilty Pleasures" are. It was also a lot of fun to make a mess with the popcorn (tee hee!)

So, the challenge was:

"Take a self portrait that incorporates your favorite guilty pleasure"...

I actually looked to some of my favorite people to see what THEY would say are a few of my guilty pleasures... they were right on!

First off...

Here's my guilty pleasure list:

1. popcorn, especially movie theatre popcorn
2. baths, preferably jacuzzi and most importantly uninterrupted!
3. scrapbooking... it's not a cheap hobby but it keeps me sane and it's a good excuse to take pictures (if you need an excuse?)

Anyways, here's my take!

These first 3 are the "documentation" of my crazy idea! I popped a lot of popcorn and I made a BIG mess!

Here's my bath tub shots... remember that I took these all myself and I know it doesn't look like a lot of popcorn in these shots, but there was.... 2 big shopvac containers full!

In this next shot... I was seriously laughing at myself!

At first I was going to only include my popcorn in the bathtub shots... then I thought that I really couldn't leave out the scrapbooking... it's a daily part of my life! For those of you that don't know, when I'm not busy driving my kids around or hanging out at hockey arena's I teach and work part time at The Urban Scrapbook. I teach quite a bit of classes there and I try and scrapbook a little everyday. I'm not joking when I say that it keeps me sane! It's MY time in MY room doing MY thing...

This is my self portrait of me doing my thing... actually starting to scrapbook my Guilty Pleasures pictures!

When it was all said and done I decided that it wouldn't be complete without "scrapbooking" the pictures... it's just what I do!
So here it is!

There are a lot of great pictures that other photographers have entered... it's going to be hard for Brandy and Danna to pick. I'm sure they all want to win this contest as badly as I do! No matter what, I really enjoyed the process... popcorn popping and all!

Anyways, my fingers are crossed and I hope you will cross your fingers for me too!

ONCE AGAIN...

The fabulous Melissa over at Wedding Obsession has done it again!

Melissa has featured the amazing and beautiful wedding of Jaclyn and Martin on her site. I've been informed it's going to be a two parter!! Jaclyn and Martin are two of the nicest people EVER! Being able to capture their day was a huge honor and only someone that captures weddings can understand that being able to use my camera and document their day, their love, their connections is AMAZING! Love it!

This wedding was the first wedding I photographed and once you see the pictures you'll know why it was fantastic!
Jaclyn had so many details... there was so much love and you know it's a great wedding when you get my husband to cry!

WONDERFUL WINTER WEDDING - SHERWOOD PARK, ALBERTA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

This past weekend, Leisa had the opportunity to capture Andrew and Sarah's big day.
It was a magical winter wedding that took place at Festival Place in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Their big day wasn't without snow and cold weather but the bride and groom did an amazing job even posing for photos in the near blizzard like conditions - Thanks so much Andrew and Sarah!
It really is hard not to literally feel the love the two of them share... so amazing to witness and we wish you the both the best of everything in your live's together and on your honeymoon in St.Lucia... can you bring us with you?

FUN, FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be once again asked by the Gustke family to capture their family in photos!
Frank worked with the dad for quite a few years and we've been lucky enough to get to know this sweet family and their oh so handsome little guy! It was a little chilly out but the three of them were troopers! I really love these photos and I've been finding some very fun locales for photos and this was no exception!

Leisa and I finished up a wedding and now we are getting ready for Andrew and Sarah's big day, next weekend! Can't wait and I hope we get a little more snow for photos- I know the couple would also agree!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I hope you are all having a fabulous week...
I cannot believe that it is already Wednesday!

I can't wait for the weekend as one of my best friends is coming down from Airdrie for the weekend and I haven't seen her since the beginning of August! She's also bringing her son who is one of my son's best friends! Can't wait to see you Melissa and Nick!

I told you that I would be back with some pictures from our Thanksgiving weekend in Jasper. Here are some of my favorite photos from the weekend...

This first photo is straight out of camera (no photoshop) and taken at sunset, from Pyramid Lake Island. It was fun out there taking "dark" photos but when the sun was down we had to get out of there as it was REALLY dark and really freaky!

One of the girls took this photo of Frank and I and I actually like it! I love that my kids love taking pictures and they are getting quite good at it:) I love their perspective! I need some more cameras though because they are always fighting over who gets to use mom's camera!

This photo was taken at Jasper Park Lodge... it is beautiful and peaceful out there. I would love to head there for a mini vacation!

I love the little birdie in this one. Carol and I headed to Pyramid Lake Island for sunrise and it really wasn't the nicest sunrise but we just played around with our cameras for an hour and we got some amazing photos!

I hope you like them!
I actually ordered a couple of them to get printed (quite large) to frame for my house! Can't wait to pick them up tomorrow and see them! I know some of you had asked me before for some copies of these pictures I've taken so if you'd like a high resolution copy to print, just send me a message!

Leisa & I were lucky enough to be chosen by Marysia & Blair to Capture their big day!
It was the beautiful joining of two wonderful families and it was a memorable and touching day! It was a little bit chilly outside to say the least and the bridal couple and their bridal parties were troopers for putting up with the chilly weather!

I'm sure you can tell that these two were so fun to photograph and were up for anything!

FUN, FAMILY PHOTOS

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to photograph the Fuhr Family.
I've previously taken pictures of the kids a couple of times and the youngest one was the face of my first website, so I couldn't wait to capture the family this time!
These kids are so fun, so sweet and they love getting their photos taken!
Mama is pretty hot and told me she doesn't take good pictures so I'm including a picture of her because she is very photogenic and so pretty and I hope she doesn't tell anyone again, that she doesn't take good photos!

We had a great weekend last Saturday capturing Marysia & Blair's big day! It was a little chilly but they were troopers and we got some amazing and very sexy photos! Can't wait to share those with you!

MUST READ...

Leisa and I had a fabulous night...

We were invited by J'lyn Nye (Joe FM radio host and former tv personality) to capture her new book launch/signing party, held at the Old Timer's Lodge. It was a great night and it was great to photograph something new. There were a lot of media personalities and other great people and it was fun to capture a special evening for J'lyn, whom we think is pretty cool!

I'm not a big "hockey" person, unless it's for Anthony but Leisa and I both agreed that after tonight, it is on our "must read book list". We each bought a copy and I know that it will be a fabulous read!

Last week I was fortunate enough to finally meet up with Karen & Darcy who were given a gift certificate for a portrait session. These two were married in the Mayan last year and it's not hard to see how much they love eachother. You see it in the way they touch, they way they hold hands and in the way Darcy looks at Karen.
These two made my job easy and it was hard to pick my favorites...

Here are a few of my favorites!

We were spoiled with warm weather throughout September and now the autumn chill is among us. I still have a few spots open for family photos. It is getting colder but photos with warm sweaters, mitts and scarves, are AWESOME for fun family photos and even for Christmas cards!

I hope everyone had a wonderful start to their week....
Leisa is enjoying a family getaway to Jasper and we leave later this week for Thanksgiving in Jasper... can't wait!

LUCKY ME!

I can't say it enough, but I love this job... if that's what you want to call it!
I really don't believe that people pay me to photograph them... I feel like the luckiest person ever! All you can ever hope for out of life is that you are able to earn a living doing what you love! Don't get me wrong, it can really be hard work at times but I can't complain, I really do love it!

I was lucky enough to recently photograph a very special couple. She happens to work with my husband and I really think that must be a hard job (LOL). She really is the sweetest ever! She also happens to be having a baby, very soon, with her dear husband. It's amazing to feel the love between these two and it's no wonder they created this special gift, they'll soon be able to meet! I really tried to step outside of my comfort zone and I think it paid off. These are definitely some of my favorite pictures ever and I hope this special couple loves them too! I can't wait to capture their new bundle, very soon!

Our monthly challenge at the store was to scrap "why you rock"... you had to brag about something you do well! Jan actually helped me to come up with this one... it's definitely not my best layout but I love what it's all about!

The kids are back to school and they are already loving it! I sure hope that lasts! I'll try and get some photos of their first day, up here on the blog, sometime soon...

Were getting ready around here for a very busy week... Leisa and I have a wedding with Katie and James on Saturday and a week long session for the Strathcona Legion all next week! It's sure to be a fun and busy long weekend! We are also filling up for fall family photos, so if you are interested, please message me. ONCE AGAIN, PLAYING CATCH UP!

First off, I do want to mention that we had a WONDERFUL holiday/vacation! It was definitely the best... lot's of great memories and it was amazing to see the kids at Disneyland... Frank included! I promise I will be back soon with some pics of our holidays.

In the mean time I am posting some pics of sweet baby "C". He is such a handsome baby and it's hard to imagine that he was only 1 pound at birth! He has some wonderful (and good looking) parents who so obviously love him to pieces! He was so much fun to photograph and he is one of the most easy going babies I've met!

I've been super busy with bookings, work and class work, but I will do my best to keep up on the blog. I do have a lot of recent pics that I'd love to post on here, so I will be back soon with some more sneak peeks!

I am presently booking for fall/family/child/lifestyle portraits, so if you are interested, please let me know!

I am also once again going to be offering "school photos". These are mini sessions where you get some background photos (much better than the traditional type that don't accurately capture your children or their individuality)n of your child, as well as some outdoor photos. I am working on the dates but I can tell you that the mini sessions will be $40 with an optional $25 print package of your proofs. You get approximately 5 -10 proofs that are professionaly and artistically edited, which you can print what you choose to, at a later date!

WARNING LONG POST, LOT'S OF PHOTOS!

WOWEE... my how time flies!
It has been a busy, crazy couple of months and I cannot wait for our summer holiday/trip to the States. I can't wait to see the kids expressions when they enter the gates of disney! It's sure to be amazing! I can't wait to enjoy it, live it and capture it with my family and friends!

The new website is almost done! Leisa and I are still needing pictures and as you can imagine we have been very good at putting this off! LOL I HATE getting my picture taken! I got my highlights redone so I should get it done soon so the hair looks good!

We went camping this past weekend, with friends, to Hope Lake. It was a blast! It's okay that it rained a little and the mosquitoes were out in full force! We loved it! The best thing about Hope Lake is that you can quad there... everyone loves it!

A couple of weekends ago, I was fortunate enough to second shoot for Beth.
She is such a sweetheart... one of the kindest people I know and it was a lot of fun! Travis and Jenni had a wonderful day and they both looked amazing. I also got to hang out with Julie of A Modern Proposal. She is a fab planner and if you are needing one, please check her out!
The wedding ceremony took place at the Winspear Center and it was beautiful! What an amazing location!

I was lucky enough to be contacted by Carson Beier of Exit Realty in Spruce Grove. I captured his family's photos this past fall and I was excited to drive out and take pictures at his home! It was beautiful and his wife Amy was an amazing hostess! Carson is very lucky to work with some amazing ladies who just happen to be super photographic and SO much fun!
If you are needing a honest, and hardworking realestate agent, make sure to contact Carson, you won't be disappointed!

I also met up with Katie and James, whose wedding I am capturing this coming fall! They are so in love, so in sync with eachother and it was just an amazing feeling to be around them! They were up for anything and I love that they suggested Rundle Park because I hadn't been there in years and there were so many amazing locations for photos! I can't wait to capture your big day! HELLO SPRING....

and hello warm weather... hello white fluff and large quantities of benadryl! Hello hives, hello slurpees, hello hibernation! LOL
Yes, that was my lousy attempt at poetry!
I remember looking so forward to warm weather and the sun shining brightly, but unfortunately I've developed an allergy to the sun over the past few years and I just do not look forward to sunny days! If you live here in Edmonton, then I can tell you that todays weather is perfect weather for me! As for our trip to Vegas/California this summer, I just don't know what I'm going to do or how I'll survive? I'm thinkng that being able to take the kids to Disney for our first time ever, will make it all worth it!

Boy have I been busy?
I really can't complain because I'm always busy and that's the way I like it... when I start to slow down, I usually get sick!

Do you ever wonder why I love working at the store? Well here are a couple pictures and a couple reasons why I love it so!

It really is a blast! I'm my most creative when I'm at work and it sure is an escape from the everyday! I love hanging out with creative people and there sure is a lot of creativity around this place! It does help that I have two amazing "boss ladies" whom I adore! (In a non-sexual way, of course).
Everyday is different and fun and crazy and being able to hang out with these "precious" ladies makes a world of difference to me! Not to say that we all don't have our days and that everyday is perfect but being able to go to work and just being able to chat about kids and husbands, friends and our lives, makes for a great day! We also have some great and fun customers, who make it even better!
Just a note: Jan is finally getting published in Canadian Scrapbooker! She is one of the most amazing scrapbookers ever and she totally deserves it! I think Pat also has some "published work" coming up, as well! I can only wish to be half as creative as these two!
I have some amazing kids but not all is pretty and perfect around here, everyday! Sometimes the mornings can be pretty rough, and just being able to go to work, get a hug, vent, and sometimes even let out a little/big cry makes a world of difference. Jan has three grown children and she always has a way of putting things in perspective for me and she always reminds me that I will make it through it and it will get better! Thanks Jan!

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to attend a workshop/class with the amazing Heidi Swapp. It was pretty amazing and it was a lot of fun. It did help that I got to hang out and spend time with Lindsay (whom I met through the wonderful world of blogging and who is a true inspiration), as well as Kerri (who won a spot through Urban) and her sister Crystal! It was a lot of fun to get out and take a class for a change. We also recieved a lot of free product, which is always good! Heidi chatted a lot about "energy" and "energy in" and "energy out" and it all made a lot of sense and it was inspiring to hear! Veronica, Kim and Talia were there to help and it was great to be able to see them once again!

I can't believe I got to meet Heidi and I actually got to use her camera and she was quite enthralled with mine (and my fave 50mm lens)!

I've been busy fooling around with my camera and finding some alternate inspiration...
I saw some amazing photos at Original Joes and I thought I'd give it a try... Here are a couple of my photos! I hope you like them as much as I do! Actually the two flower photos are straight out of camera, no photoshoppping, whatsoever!

Over the May weekend Leisa and I were lucky enough to take some pics of Ginette and Blair's wedding in Canmore! It was a beautiful wedding and a beautiful location. I already posted a few pics, but I thought i'd post a couple more of my favorites!

The kids are ready to go back to school and I'm ready for them to go back, too! I love them to pieces but it's been a L O N G summer!

FALL SPECIALS!

The cooler weather and beautiful colors are among us and Leisa and I have some specials to celebrate the season as well as celebrating the launch of our new blog and website, which will happen later this week!

Location: Northwest side of Edmonton
When: Saturday September 19th 9 am - 12 pm
& Monday September 21st starting at 4 pm
What: Disc of your high resolution proofs (8 - 10 proofs)
2 5x7's and a sheet of wallet prints (professionally printed
on lustre paper)

These photos are not your typical school photos. We will be using a backdrop for some photos and a special location for some more unique school photos!

FALL MINI SESSIONS

Location: Prairie Gardens

Hello everyone!
We've been SOOOO... busy taking pictures and proofing pictures!

Leisa and I have spent the last 9 day taking photographs for the Strathcona Legion. It is the legions 65th Anniversary and they hired us to capture the week long event! It has been so much fun and so much work but we really have met some amazing people, celebrated a bunch of birthdays and made some new friends! The pictures are ready to be sent to the printer and I can't wait to see them all printed! We got to shoot some amazing people and even a few dignitaries including Mayor Mandell.

I also wanted to warn you that our new website AND new blog should be ready to go live by the end of the week. Leisa and I have made a lot of changes but we totally LOVE the new sites and they are exactly what we wanted! I'm sure you will love them too and I'm sure that there will be some prizes, specials and giveaways, to mark the occasion!

If you come by and it doesn't look right, just remember that it takes time to take sites down and get them back up properly!

HELLO, ONCE AGAIN!

I can't believe that the weekend is almost over...
It went by way to quickly!

I've been working away on lot's of photos! Making progress but there still is work to do, but I can't complain because I love it!

My mom was down from Vancouver, a couple of weeks ago. It was a short and sweet visit and I miss her already! On her last day here we had a photoshoot with the kids. My mom was a little nervous but I think I really captured her well! I hope she checks out the blog and sees the photos that I got!

Mom: I hope you love them! We miss you a lot and can't wait for our next visit!

PLAYING CATCH UP!

*** WARNING*** LOT'S OF PICS... NO REALLY!

It's been a VERY busy couple of weeks and I just can't complain! I've been fortunate enough to capture some beautiful families, some amazing bonds, and some real moments! I am so thankful that people choose me to capture their families!

Tonight I finally got to meet "C". He is nearly one year old and so handsome! I love his curls and his beautiful blue eyes! I'm not sure if he liked my camera but I was able to get some great shots! We took the photos at grandma and grandpas house and I must say he sure is surrounded by a lot of love! I hope you love the sneak peek!

This past week, I also got to capture a beautiful new family! Little "N" entered the world four weeks ago and it's not hard to see in these photos how much his parents adore him and how much love surrounds them all! I loved the wrinkles in his forehead and his long fingers and all of his hair... he has quite a bit! It was great meeting Melissa and Micheal and I am thankful they chose me to capture their new little guy!

This past weekend I was able to capture some very special people. Tracy and I have been friends for nearly 20 years and she is near and dear to my heart... so is her beautiful family! We were able to photograph more of her extended family and lot's of special relationships... I hope you love them as much as I do!

I got to meet some new "extended" family of the Holmes Family and I must say that I loved photographing the amazing relationships they share! They were so real... so relatable and I hope they love these!

Wow... that was a long one!
I worked my last shift today (except for teaching a class tomorrow night), before leaving on holidays. We are heading to the States... Las Vegas, California, Grand Canyon... all the fun stuff! I CANNOT WAIT! Only Olyvia has been there before and I can't wait to see the kids expressions! I've been working so much and I know it will make my holiday even better! I'll try and post some pics from the road! Otherwise... Take care and enjoy the beautiful outdoors!
